Hospitals in Pattaya and Surrounding Areas
Healthcare is often one of the first things people consider when deciding where to live. Fortunately, the standard of healthcare in Pattaya has improved significantly in recent years. The city is home to three well-regarded private international hospitals, all of which offer English-speaking doctors, nurses, and staff, along with modern medical equipment.
While private care offers a higher standard, the costs can vary greatly, making health insurance a smart investment. Pattaya also has government hospitals, which are much more affordable but may not offer the same level of service. Additionally, surrounding areas like Sriracha and Sattahip provide more quality options, and for minor issues, there are numerous clinics and pharmacies across the city.
Private Hospitals in Pattaya
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya
Widely considered the top private hospital in Pattaya, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is located on Sukhumvit Road in North Pattaya. It features state-of-the-art equipment and luxurious private rooms often compared to 5-star hotels. Known for excellence in dental and cosmetic surgery, it’s also a popular destination for medical tourism. While prices are on the higher side, the hospital’s large fleet of ambulances, multilingual staff, and specialist services make it a top choice.
Pattaya International Hospital
Located on Soi 4, Beach Road, this hospital is smaller than Bangkok Hospital but still offers excellent care at a more affordable price. It is especially popular for outpatient services and non-life-threatening conditions. English is widely spoken here, and while the ambulance fleet is well-equipped, it’s slightly more modest compared to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.
Pattaya Memorial Hospital
Found just off Pattaya Klang near Second Road, this is the most affordable of the private hospitals. The facilities may not match the other two, but the care remains reliable. English-speaking doctors are available, though not all nurses speak English. Patients often choose this hospital for cost-effective treatment, but may be transferred to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for serious cases.
Government Hospitals in Pattaya
Banglamung Hospital
Located in Naklua, this is an older government hospital with basic facilities. Staff are generally competent, but long wait times and limited English proficiency can be issues. Serious patients are often transferred to Chonburi Hospital.
Pattaya City Hospital
Situated on Soi Buakhao, this is a more modern public hospital and is favored by expats and tourists without insurance. The facilities are better than Banglamung, though wait times can still be long. It’s a reliable option for budget-conscious individuals.
Hospitals in the Surrounding Area
Samitivej Sriracha Hospital
A reputable private hospital located in nearby Sriracha. Many of the same doctors from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya also work here. It is a preferred choice for many expats in the region due to its high standard of care.
Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital, Sattahip
A quality government hospital offering good care at reasonable prices. It is a viable option for those without insurance and is widely respected in the local community.
